Gaming Innovation Group receives licences for Maryland and Pennsylvania
By Gambling Insider

Following the legalisation of online sports betting in Maryland on 23 November 2022, GiG has attained an Online Sports Wagering Operator Licence for the state.

This will facilitate the launch of Crab Sports, an online sportsbook developed specifically for the Maryland market.

Marcel Elfersy, Chief Commercial Officer at GiG, said: “We’re excited about the possibilities these new states provide, starting with the launch of Crab Sports in Maryland in May on our PAM and sportsbook.”

Crab Sports will join the eight online sportsbooks already live in Maryland. When combined with 10 further retail outlets, the total handle for Maryland gaming totalled $441m in the month of January alone.

Claudio Caruana, General Counsel for GiG, said: “Having placed a strong focus on expansion in regulated markets, we’re understandably pleased with the confirmation of our licences in two new US states.

“Regulation will continue to drive the industry in North America, as markets mature, allowing us to support and protect operators and their customers, establishing suitable, robust frameworks for sustainable growth.”

GiG has also been granted a full Interactive Gaming Manufacturer License for use in Pennsylvania.

The company is expected to release more information about a Pennsylvanian brand launch later this year.

Licenses for New Jersey and Iowa have already been obtained by GiG during their five years in the US markets,

There are also several partner companies of GiG either already live, or due to launch soon, in Ontario, Canada.
