Sky Betting & Gaming (SBG) has donated a sum in the region of £250,000 ($313,000) to the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund, one of Yorkshire’s leading charities.

Hundreds of staff and guests attended SBG’s Annual Charity Gala in Leeds on Wednesday, for an evening of fund-raising activities. The event was hosted by ITV Racing duo Ed Chamberlin and Oli Bell.

Chief Commercial Officer, Sky Betting & Gaming, Steve Birch, said: “The Charity Gala is always one of our proudest moments and none more so this year given the incredible effort by our colleagues in raising money for this exceptional cause.”

Raffle prizes, a silent auction, a Mascot Race and several sponsorship packages were all behind the contributions on the night.

Furthermore, to help fund a new, state-of-the-art echo software package, that will provide highly detailed analysis of patients' hearts, SBG’s parent company Flutter UKI rounded off the evening by donating a sum of £120,000.

CEO of the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund, Heidi Watson, stated: “The new Echo Software Package will not only make a difference to the doctors but more importantly, the patients, so we were delighted to help.”

The CHSF Head of Marketing, Andy McNally, added: “This life-changing contribution from Sky Betting & Gaming and Flutter UKI will make an incredible difference to local patients with congenital heart disease and their families.

“Donations help give patients and families the best possible experience at the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit and cardiac clinics around our region and we cannot thank the Sky Bet employees and everyone who contributed at the ball enough.”
