Wynn Boston Harbor opening month is set
By David Cook
Boston Harbor is reportedly set to open in June 2019 after clearing regulatory hurdles.

Wynn Resorts won an important case brought against the construction of the casino by the City of Somerville in July.

That dispute centred on Somerville’s opposing of the Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) granting of a waterfront development permit to the operator, with the casino planned to be built on the front of the Mystic River in eastern Massachusetts.

Construction of the casino was postponed, but was able to begin earlier this month after a hearing officer for the DEP ruled in Wynn Resorts’ favour.

According to the Boston Globe, Wynn Resorts executives have informed the Massachusetts Gaming Commission of the planned date for the casino opening.

Robert DeSalvio, Wynn Boston Harbor President, was quoted as saying: “For the first time, today I say before the Gaming Commission that casino construction is under way.”

DEP Commissioner Martin Suuberg will decide on whether Wynn Boston Harbor is allowed to open.

The casino is still referred to as Wynn Everett in the logo on WynninEverett.com, but Chief Executive and Founder Steve Wynn announced the name change in March.

Wynn Palace, the operator’s Macau project that is reported to have cost $4.2bn to construct, will open on Monday.
