Prairie Flower Casino expansion in Carter Lake set for late 2024 or early 2025
By Gambling Insider

The construction, initially projected for a summer 2024 opening, has encountered delays attributed to supply-chain challenges related to the pandemic.

With regard to the delay, James Centers, spokesperson for the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska, stated: “What we've seen with supply-chain issues since the pandemic, generally speaking, it's not terrible to be a few months behind. If winter weather holds like it is right now, we could make up some ground.

“They're using this time before winter really sets in to get that structure in place with the hopes that when we emerge in spring we can go full steam ahead in terms of completing the expansion.”

Anticipated features of the 60,000-square-foot expansion include over 600 games, a sportsbook and enhanced dining and entertainment options.

Since its opening in 2018, Prairie Flower Casino has tried to support tribal members and the local community. Contributions exceeding $28m have been directed towards tribal services, encompassing expanded healthcare, job training, cultural preservation and social services.

Additionally, the casino has donated over $2.3m to the city of Carter Lake, supporting essential services such as police, fire, infrastructure and general community improvements.

The expansion marks a move to enhance the casino's offerings and will hope to secure its ability to provide for the tribe and the broader community going forward.
