Aristocrat reportedly to sue Light & Wonder
By Ciaran McLoughlin

According to reports in the Australian media, Aristocrat is set to sue Light & Wonder regarding a dispute over one of its most popular games.

Aristocrat is said to be suing Light & Wonder by claiming it engaged in a campaign to copy the game, Dragon Link, and confuse customers.

On top of this, the allegations also make reference to former Aristocrat employees who now work for Light & Wonder, who are alleged to have misappropriated trade secrets that violated laws in the US state of Nevada.

Aristocrat has alleged that Light & Wonder obtained confidential information about the maths and functionality of its Dragon Link game, which it claims has similar game rules, symbols, pay tables and bonus features.

It also claims that Light & Wonder’s Dragon Train game was designed by a former Aristocrat game designer who had worked on Dragon Link while at Aristocrat. The game debuted in North America last week.

The provider is set to dismiss the claims made against it, in relation to the creation of its game Dragon Train, which came out last year and is said to be one of its fastest-selling titles.

A Light & Wonder spokesperson said: “These actions are entirely without merit, and we will be vigorously defending against them, including seeking the dismissal of this baseless lawsuit.”
