has begun on a $40m renovation of the Isleta Resort & Casino in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Improvements include an expanded and redesigned casino floor, new concert venue, food and beverage outlets and increased retail space. The wholesale casino renovation follows the resort celebrating its 30th anniversary earlier this year.

The casino's owners, the Pueblo of Isleta Community of Native Americans say that the new casino floor will have a lighter and brighter feel, with clear sightlines for a more comfortable gaming experience.

Despite the scale of the renovation works, Isleta Resort & Casino CEO Harold Baugas reaffirmed the casino's commitment to stay open in an interview with TotallyGaming.com saying: “We will remain open throughout the 18-month renovation period.

“Because the gaming industry is 24/7, our commitment to quality guest service and being an entertainment destination will not waiver during this time.”

A separate new bingo facility will be built to capitalise on the casino's long standing bingo following with a total redesign of the casino's existing entrance. Other future developments will include the creation of a food court and upgrades to the existing hotel and spa.

The resort's popular Triple Sevens Saloon will also be expanded to nearly four times its original capacity.

Baugas said: “We’ll continue to update our machines, as we typically do throughout the year. Significantly expanding the casino floor will help us to better utilise and maximise our current product.”
