Jersey internet gaming revenue grew by 28% in the first half of 2017, with online casinos taking in $121.4m compared to the $94.8m in the prior-year period.

According to figures released by state gaming regulators, the internet gambling operators took in a collective $20.2m in June, up 23% year-on-year.

Poker revenue of $1.7 million was down 11.9% year-over-year compared to $1.9m last year. The other games, which include offerings like blackjack and slots, were up 28.2% year-over-year, going from $14.3m to $18.4m.

The roughly $4m in extra revenue was nearly the amount that internet gaming revenue grew year-over-year. In other words, if it wasn’t for online gaming, Atlantic City’s casino industry would likely not be experiencing any growth.

Total industry revenue during the first half of this year was $1.29 billion, up 3.5% compared to the $1.24 billion won during the prior period.
