regulatory bodies of Malta and Alderney have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The document, which was signed on 9 October, will provide a formal basis and framework for bilateral cooperation between Malta’s Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LGA) and the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC).

The MoU covers issues such as exchange of information, investigative assistance of providers and remote gaming services, reciprocal server location, cloud regulation, the recognition of national certification bodies and player liquidity.

LGA chairman Mario Galea said: “With this MoU the two jurisdictions recognise the common values underlying their regulation of remote gaming, namely to ensure consumer protection and the protection of society and public order, amongst others.”

AGCC chief executive André Wilsenach said: “The MoU is an important step in the development and sharing of common regulatory best practices which should benefit operators in both jurisdictions as it will endeavour to reduce the amount of duplication and costs of doing business in the two jurisdictions.”
