IGT extend Californian lottery partnership
By Harrison Sayers
rnational Game Technology (IGT) and the Californian lottery will be extending their partnership up until 2026. The deal was made between the lottery and IGT’s subsidiary, IGT Global Solutions Corporation.

Jay Gendron, IGT Senior Vice President, WLA North America Lottery commented: "IGT and the California Lottery have enjoyed a long and successful partnership for more than three decades. We have assisted the Lottery in increasing sales and funds for education exponentially over the past several years, including in its most recent audited fiscal year with lottery sales of $6.276bn and $1.587bn returned to education.”

The huge sale numbers make the California lottery the second largest in terms of revenue in the US.

Although the deal is mainly an extension of the services already provided by IGT, a huge new aspect of the two’s partnership has emerged. IGT will be supplying the Californian lottery with over 19,000 Altura GT1200 Flex retailer terminals using a new solution software name OpenRetail which allows for various devices in differing retailers to all use the same single terminal application. In turn more retailers will be able to sell tickets as well as reduce the time taken to get the tickets to market.

Gendron added: "We look forward to using this opportunity to further strengthen our partnership with the California Lottery and its retailers through the deployment of leading-edge solutions."
