hwest Indiana’s casinos posted positive, yet modest results for the month of November, up 1.3% from the same month a year prior.

According to a report released by the Indiana Gaming Commission late last week, the casinos together raked in a total of $74.56m last month, a 1.3% hike over their November 2016 revenues of $73.57m.

Leading the way was Horseshoe Hammond Casino, which saw the biggest gains, taking in a total sum of $33.59m, a 5.2% increase on the $31.87m that was posted during the same period in 2016.

Horseshoe Hammond Casino’s Senior Vice President and General Manager, Dan Nita said: “I think the messaging of our hundreds of new slot machines is just getting out into the market.”

Next up was Ameristar Casino in East Chicago, raking in $17.11m in revenues last month, a small increase over the $17.04m in brought in during the same month last year. Although the casino's Vice President and General Manager, Matthew Schuffert, said: “I’m pretty happy with November.”

Nonetheless, it was not all gains for Indiana’s casinos; both Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City and Majestic Star II in Gary both saw revenue slides. Blue Chip raked in $12.14m last month, compared to $12.69m in November 2016. Majestic Star II took in $4.59m compared to $4.86m last November.

Although the results are nothing to shout about, at least they are an improvement on October’s figures. Gaming revenue at Northwest Indiana's casinos was down by less than 2% in October as compared to a year ago, totalling approximately $76.2m for the month.

Horseshoe was the only gainer for the month, with East Chicago's Ameristar down 5.6% to $16.8m, Michigan City's Blue Chip down 2.4% to $12.8m and Gary's Majestic Star casinos down 1.6% to $12.1m.
