The total revenue across the state rose 1.4% on the previous year taking $3.25bn, the increase was driven by a 3.3% rise in table gaming revenue, taking over $895m with nine out of the 12 months a year-on-year increase was recorded.

 Tax revenue produced through table games play was also up 4% from $138m in fiscal year 2016/2017 to $144m in fiscal year 2017/2018.

Pennsylvania are pushing to legalise sports betting in the state, as temporary regulations were put in place earlier this month, until permanent legislation is put in place. The current regulations see a sizable tax rate of 36% and a licence fee of $10m.

These high set up costs and taxes may prevent some casinos from rolling out sports betting, although the PGCB is open to comments from public and groups to improve the regulation.

Nine of the 13 land-based casinos in the Keystone State have also applied for online gaming licences on 16 July.
