Sportradar US exec: "Chicago will embrace legal sports betting when it arrives"
By Oliver Rudgewick

The betting technology and services provider will provide risk management and data services to BetChicago if sports betting becomes legal in Illinois.

Neale Deeley, Sportradar’s US Vice President of Sales, told Gambling Insider: “The US market opening is unlike any other that has gone before it, as there is a clean sheet when it comes to operating experience. As the leading sports data and services provider, we are looking to help organisations from major casino groups right through to media companies to build the best possible sportsbook for their brand.”

No significant steps have been taken towards regulating sports betting in Illinois as yet, and movement on the situation is not expected at least until the November elections.

Deeley said: “Just short of 10 million people call Chicagoland home, making it the third biggest metropolitan area in the US. It’s a sports mad town that will certainly embrace legalised betting when it arrives.

“As a global company, we are preparing ourselves for markets opening across the world, both big and small. The US happens to be at the bigger end of the spectrum, so this is a very exciting place to be right now.”
