The month’s figures showed total revenue of NT$5.06bn ($170m), up 73%.

Looking at the bigger picture, sports lottery sales for H1 saw an 11% year-on-year increase, with a total of NT$20.41bn.

Figures from the Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics (DGBAS) show sports lottery sales have been on the rise consistently every year since 2013.

The sales from H1 already amount to over 60% of 2017s total sales of NT$33.1bln.

Last year, 81% of sports lottery sales were generated by physical betting stores, while only 1% of bets came from online betting.

The DGBAS also said all proceeds from sports lottery sales last year were allocated to sports development.
