Kindred Group applies for Sweden licence
By Tim Poole

In an expected move, owner of operators Unibet and 32Red, is responding to a parliament vote in June to re-regulate Sweden’s gambling market.

A total of 22 applications were made on the first day of submissions for the country’s new gambling licenses, but Kindred (formerly Unibet Group) was not one of them.

It was simply a matter of time, however, and, subject to approval, Sweden will become the operator’s 13th market where it is locally licensed.

Henrik Tjärnström, Kindred CEO, said: “It is very satisfying that we finally can take this important step towards fair and equal terms within the Swedish market, competing on the same level as other operators.

“Kindred has always applied great effort to understanding what our customers want, giving them a great experience in a safe and secure environment with the highest responsible gambling standards.”

Kindred recently posted a 31% year-on-year increase in gross winnings revenue for the second quarter of 2018, with the Fifa World Cup providing a “significant all-time high in customer activity.”
