The Las Vegas-based company has announced the casino sportsbook will launch on 16 October.

However, sports betting has not been legalised within the state of New Mexico; any sports betting operations would therefore depend on the New Mexico government not intervening due to the tribal casino’s current compact with the state.

When contacted for comment, Tom Willer, USBookmaking Marketing Director, told Gambling Insider: "It is expressly stated in the New Mexico compact between the state and Native American tribes that all forms of Class III gaming are permissible. This includes sports betting."

Vic Salerno, President of USBookmaking, said in a statement: “We have found that there is tremendous demand for a Nevada-style retail sports book operation in a multitude of casinos throughout the US. We specialise in the ability to get to market quickly and operate efficiently."

Since news of the agreement broke, New Mexico regulators appear to have confirmed they will not prevent USBookmaking from launching.

In a statement to Gambling Compliance.com, David Carl, press secretary to Attorney General Hector Balderas, said: “Sports betting at the Santa Ana Star Casino is governed by the Pueblo of Santa Ana Gaming Regulatory Commission.

"As such, we will closely monitor New Mexico’s tribal gaming compacts and work with the legislature for proper statutory and regulatory oversight to require responsible gaming and enhanced integrity to create an even playing field for all.”
