Revenue grew by $9.2m (6.9%) year-on-year, compared to the September 2017 total of $134.5m.

September 2018 was Maryland’s fourth-best month for revenue and four of the six casinos saw numbers grow.

The MGM National Harbor in Prince George’s County remains the top taker for the state. The casino’s revenue increased 10.3% to $54.4m.

The highest year-on-year percentage increase was at Ocean Downs Casino, where a growth of 13.9% saw the venue accumulate revenue of $7.5m.

Two of Maryland’s casinos saw a decrease in revenue. Rocky Gap Casino Resort dropped 1.3% to $4.6m and revenue at the Horseshoe Casino Baltimore fell by 1.6% to $20.6m.

Contributions to the State of Maryland from September 2018 casino revenue totalled $59.5m, including $44.6m for the Education Trust Fund. Casino gaming revenue also goes towards the support of local communities where the casino is located and Maryland’s horse racing industry.

The six casinos in Maryland are all privately owned and offer both slot machines and table games.
