Betsson director resigns over legal dispute with Swedish tax authorities
By Tim Poole

Sjöberg joined the Betsson board as a director in May, having worked in the gaming industry for 20 years prior.

However, the director is now leaving the company at his own request due to a dispute over tax liability.

Last month, Betsson announced the departure of CFO Kaaren Hilsen, who decided to leave one year after taking the role.

Hilsen will become CEO at Swedish Telecoms provider Telenor, although she is required to work a six-month notice period, with the search for her successor already underway.

In a statement regarding Sjöberg ‘s departure, Betsson said: “Tristan Sjöberg has resigned from Betsson AB’s Board of Directors at his own request. The reason is that he is in a legal dispute with Swedish tax authorities regarding tax liability.”

Betsson recently announced its subsidiary, Corona, will appeal a €300,000 ($347,000) fine issued by the Dutch gambling regulator for operating in the Netherlands without a licence.
