EFL clubs support Responsible Gambling Week campaign
By Nathan Joyes

This marks the first year in which EFL clubs are participating in the campaign and the vast majority are willing to offer their services to the cause.

The idea of football clubs coming together to talk about responsible gambling is to help those potentially in need of tackling any issues they might be facing. Football clubs up and down the country are jumping on board with the campaign to send a strong message to punters and any problems they may be facing.

It isn’t just EFL clubs who are on board, as English Premier League team Crystal Palace also showcased its support last week when playing Arsenal at Selhurst Park.

However, it’s not just football clubs who are helping the Industry Group for Responsible Gambling (IGRG), as over 800 bookmakers are supporting the campaign, alongside the Arcades Association, the Gaming and Leisure Association of Ireland, Horse Racing Ireland and the Irish Greyhound and Horse Racing Tote.

Bookmakers’ social media accounts have been heavily advertising the operation, with the #RGWeek18 currently trending on Twitter. The five main aims over the next week are as follows:

John Hagan, chairman of the Industry Group for Responsible Gambling, said: “As an industry we are dedicated, year-round to promoting responsible gambling, but what makes Responsible Gambling Week special is the opportunity for gambling operators from every sector to unite behind the same message and engage in a national conversation about what it means to gamble responsibly.”
