Nevada posts highest sports betting revenue for six years
By Tim Poole

Nevada’s previous record was set in September 2012, when it generated $53m in sports wagering revenue.

The latest tally will encourage Las Vegas-based operators and other gambling companies within the Silver State that new competition will not deter seasoned Nevada customers.

Since the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act was repealed in May, sports betting has been legalised in a handful of new US states, with New Jersey in particular posting impressing numbers in recent months.

However, Nevada’s September revenue should allay fears sports bettors will no longer head to Las Vegas.

Revenue rose 27% from August thanks to the start of the new NFL season, accounting for 10% of total handle. The overall amount wagered also broke records at $571m – beating October 2017’s tally of $565m.
