Macau casinos achieve strongest month in four years
By Matthew Enderby

Revenue rose by 3% year-on-year to MOP27.3bn ($3.4bn), shown in figures posted by Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau.

A week-long national holiday that saw visitation to the Chinese territory increase boosted October’s results.

Accumulated gross revenue has now reached MOP251bn for the year so far, an increase of 14% in year-to-date figures.

Another factor that could have added to October’s revenue was the opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge.

It crosses the South China Sea and connects Hong Kong’s financial sector, Macau and Zhuhai.

Macau’s positive growth in October follows a stormy September in which Typhoon Mangkhut impacted business operations and forced a 33-hour halt in operations for casinos on the island, resulting in falling stocks.
