Macau's Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau have revealed the figure rose to MOP23.06 billion (US$2.88 billion) for the month, representing a sharp rise on the same period last year, although the amount is actually down 14% on October’s revenues. The month-on-month decrease can mainly be put down to the week-long national holiday that took place in China during October, during which many mainlanders visited Macau to gamble. The former Portuguese colony’s gaming revenues currently sit at around five times those of Las Vegas.

Macau is a special administrative region of China and is the only part of the country in which casino gambling is legal, meaning huge revenues are generated by companies holding casino licences in the area. The latest results saw shares in a number of Macau casino operators rise in the region of 5%-10%.
