the second year in a row there has been an increase in the percentage of British people gambling on the internet.

Every year the Gambling Commission asks 4,000 people if they have gambled online in the past month.

In 2012, 14% had placed bets on the internet. This increased to 15% in 2013 and 16% in 2014.

The increase has been particularly strong among men, whose online gambling participation rates jumped from 16% to 19% to 21% across the three years.

At the same time, the proportion of people gambling at all has risen by one percentage point from 55% to 56%. This partially reverses the two percentage point drop that was measured between 2012 and 2013.
