Mims Davies: UK government is looking into credit card gambling regulation
By Tim Poole

In her first appearance of note addressing the gambling industry since replacing Tracey Crouch, Davies delivered a speech at the GambleAware conference in London on Wednesday.

Back in September, Labour Deputy Leader Tom Watson suggested his party would ban credit card gambling if it gained power during the next General Election.

Davies has returned to the topic, giving an indication the Conservative Party may consider similar action.

She said: "I want to be very clear - the publication of the Gambling Review did not mark the end of government action.

"I know there are increasing concerns around people gambling on credit cards and whether this should be permitted. This is an area we are already looking into in detail to understand the full situation and to consider if action in this space is needed.

"The profits of gambling operators aren’t my prime concern. Ensuring problem gamblers have access to the right treatment is."
