By David Cook

Golden Nugget Atlantic City and Caesars Entertainment Corp. were issued the fines by the state's Division of Gaming Enforcement.

It is legal to bet on pro and college sports in the state of New Jersey, but it is illegal to bet on any game involving New Jersey colleges or college events.

Caesars was issued with a $2,000 fine for bets which were placed on games between Rutgers Scarlet Knights and Kansas Jayhawks.

Golden Nugget has to forfeit $390 in gaming winnings owed to 10 individuals who had bet on the New Jersey college football games.
