Njgamblingsites.com has acquired a letter from New Jersey Deputy Attorney General Jennifer K. Russo-Belles, sent to Caesars in November, through a public records request.

The letter provides details of the $2,000 fine handed to the operator by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) relating to offences in September.

According to the letter, a college football game between Rutgers and Kansas triggered illegal sports betting alarms.

However, while Caesars Interactive Entertainment (CIE)’s Las Vegas Trading Team removed it from availability within an hour, CIE’s New Jersey Trading Team waited four days until being contacted by the DGE.

Wagers were also accepted in a Monmouth Princeton game for 90 minutes on 14 September.

Since September, no additional penalties or fines have been reported but the letter suggests additional compliance measures are now in place.

Caesars declined to comment when contacted by Gambling Insider but added: "This news is four months old and was self-reported and dealt with appropriately with the regulators at the time."
