Maine legislators to debate legalising sports betting
By Matthew Enderby

Bills allowing sports betting by Maine casinos or the state’s American Indian tribes are heading to the state legislature, according to the Portland Press Herald.

Details of the bill are not yet available, but Democratic Senate President Troy Jackson wants to uphold bans on collegiate, minor league and high school sports betting in Maine.

If the bills pass, Maine would become the second state in New England to legalise sports betting and the eighth region in the country.

Nevada, Delaware, New Jersey, Mississippi and Pennsylvania, among others, have already regulated sports betting.
