Maria Stergiou has also been promoted to the position of COO, with both of their tenures beginning 15 April.

Zajdel previously held several positions with GVC-owned Ladbrokes and spent time at supplier Playtech.

Stergiou, meanwhile, has been at Intralot for five years and replaces Michael Kogeler in her new role.

Intralot Group Deputy CEO, Nikos Nikolakopoulos, said: "The appointment of Mr Zajdel contributes to Intralot’s strategic objective by strengthening our capabilities with new digital products and services to assist growth across all industry verticals. It particularly enhances our abilities to tap the nascent sports betting market in the US.

"I also welcome Mrs Stergiou, a long-time associate, in her new role, looking forward to leveraging her experience with the company and our industry in driving growth and customer satisfaction."

Intralot recently replaced CEO Antonios Kerastaris with Sokratis Kokkalis, who was already Founder, Chairman and majority shareholder at the company.

The change coincided with middling financial performance, as well as the loss of Intralot’s contract to run Turkey’s sole legal sports betting operator.

However, Intralot recently denied rumours it is set to merge with Greek IT and telecom holding company Intracom.
