Senate Bill 552 would involve relocation for one land-based casino in Gary and the introduction of a new casino property in Terre Haute.

The most notable feature of the legislation is the potential regulation of sports wagering, with the bill now going back to the Senate for concurrence.

However, online betting was removed from the agenda by House Public Policy Committee Chairman Ben Smaltz and a conference committee has been set up to agree the bill's finalised details.

Further support for mobile wagering will be put forward, with the success and volume of mobile sports betting in New Jersey prompting many politicians to initially argue its case.

Indiana would not be the first state to regulate sports betting without mobile, though, with New York one prominent example of those that haven’t included it in their initial legislation.

If an agreement is reached, the bill will be sent to Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, who can sign or veto the proposal.

If he were to do neither within seven days, the bill would become law by default.
