EU recommends health warnings for i-gaming advertisements
By Emma Rumney
European Commission is to encourage countries to require online gambling advertisements to display health warnings similar to those found on cigarette packets, reports Reuters.

According to a draft document acquired by the news organisation, it is expected that the EU executive will focus on advertisements to curb compulsive gambling when it makes recommendations to improve controls of the industry next week.

The details that i-gaming companies will be asked to feature include the chances of winning and losing, information on the risk of becoming addicted to gambling and assistance for compulsive gambling.

While the recommendations won’t be legally binding they could prompt European countries to consider stricter regulation in the area.

The EU is also proposing a ban on online gambling firms sponsoring events directed towards minors.
