NHS to launch first gambling clinic for children
By Nathan Joyes

Previously, only specialist face-to-face NHS treatment in London had been available. Now, as part of NHS England’s "Long Term Plan," 14 new NHS clinics are being opened. The first will open in Leeds this summer.

The National Problem Gambling Clinic in London will also step up its efforts, offering specialist treatment for people aged 13 to 25.

According to the Gambling Commission, around 55,000 children are classed as having a gambling problem.

Last week, a number of high-profile gambling firms announced they would increase their donations to help those with gambling addictions over the next five years.

Simon Stevens, NHS England CEO, said: "This action shows just how seriously the NHS takes the threat of gambling addiction, even in young people, but we need to be clear – tackling mental ill health caused by addiction is everyone’s responsibility."
