Kindred fined by Dutch regulator for offering online gambling
By Matthew Enderby

The fine of €470,000 ($521,653) was issued for blackjack, roulette, poker and sports betting being made available on the website unibet.eu.

KSA research showed these verticals were offered to consumers in the period between 11 August 2018 and 27 December 2018.

Dutch payment provider iDeal was used on the website and a Dutch-language chat service was also available.

Kindred has decided to the appeal the KSA ruling while awaiting secondary legislation from the Ministry of Justice and Security.

The Dutch Senate approved the Remote Gambling Bill on 19 February, replacing the current Gambling Act from 1964.

However, it is not yet possible to operate online in the country.

Kindred said it remains committed to obtaining a license to operate in the Netherlands, with licenses expected to be issued in the first quarter of 2021.
