Kentucky Lottery Corporation (KLC) is inviting prospective providers to submit their bids for the acquisition of an “iLottery system” in order to move forward with its plans to launch an online lottery platform in the state.

The KLC issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to potential technology partners to collaborate in its move online, which it hopes will increase revenues and lottery sales. The move follows a presentation by the KLC earlier this month to lawmakers outlining its plan to launch an internet platform.

The presentation included a timeline which asked providers for bids over the summer months. The next phase of the process is to pick a provider by this autumn.

The Lottery hopes to begin by launching digital versions of its traditional draw games – titles such as Powerball, MegaMillions, Pick 3, Keno and more – by mid-2015 and add iScratch games within the following six months.

It will join a small list of states that have taken their lotteries online – Illinois, Minnesota and Georgia.

KLC wants interested firms to submit their applications by 18 September.
