The positive test marks the state’s third case of the virus, with two other cases occurring in the Portland area.

Upon learning of the positive test, leaders of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation made the decision to close the Wildhorse Resort and Casino until further notice.

The casino employee has since been hospitalised in Walla Walla, Washington, although health officials are attempting to track down those who may have come into contact with them.

A statement on the casino’s website said: “In an abundance of caution, Wildhorse Resort and Casino will close immediately to complete a thorough and deep cleaning as a response to reports of a presumptive positive case of Covid-19.

“The closure includes the casino, convention centre, hotel, Ciniplex, children’s entertainment centre and restaurants.

“All activities are cancelled including casino promotions and events until further notice.”
