ATG warned by Spelinspektionen after bonus glitch
By Iqbal Johal

Operator ATG sent a letter to Spelinspektionen last month, informing the regulator players were provided with bonus offers despite already previously using them. Swedish regulation dictates only one bonus can be offered per player.

ATG put the incident down to issues with the relocation of its servers, which led to its systems failing to update player bonus history.

As a result, 15 customers took advantage of the new customer offer more than once, worth a combined SEK850 ($78.35). The error lasted five and a half hours on 14 January.

Spelinspektionen said the operator contravened chapter 14, section 9 of the Gaming Act, which allows license holders to offer bonuses only once.

According to the regulatory body, ATG has stated it considers the incident extremely serious; despite it being linked to server errors, ATG has also reviewed company procedures to ensure something similar doesn’t happen in the future.

Spelinspektionen Director General, Camilla Rosenberg, said the regulator would not take action due to the incident being self-reported and only lasting for a brief period.

She added: "The violation has only affected a few people and has been going on for a short time. In addition, ATG has, on its own initiative, reported the violation and made a correction."
