GVC provides glimpse to new look betting shop layout ahead of reopening
By Iqbal Johal

The operator announced earlier this week that all 2,445 of its shops in England will reopen, with strict health and safety measures in place, following closure in mid-March because of the coronavirus pandemic.

GVC confirmed new protective barriers have been put up between gaming machines and betting stations, along with sings and floor markings, around the thousands of shops.

Stylus pens will be in place for individual use only, to help avoid customers having to physically touch gaming machine screens.

Additional hand sanitiser stations, hand wash and cleaning products will also be provided, while there will be an increased monitoring of customer behaviour and wellbeing as part of safer gambling measures.

GVC also urged its customers to “#DoWhatsRight” when it comes to ensure social distancing and safety protocols are met.

A post on GVC’s Linkedin page, added: “With our shops soon re-opening, we’ve been working hard to welcome back customers in a way that’s safe for both them and our colleagues.”

The coronavirus impact on GVC saw its board of directors and members of its executive committee taking a three-month 20% voluntary reduction on basic salary.

The operator estimates the pandemic will reduce EBITDA by approximately £50m ($63.2m) per month.
