Summit Ascent allowed to reopen Tigre De Cristal in Russia
By Violeta Prockyte

Permission was gratned by the Governor of Primorsky Krai and goes into effect on 16 July. The property temporarily closed its doors on 28 March.

Summit Ascent said: “The gaming areas, the hotel and other amenities will be permitted to resume operations according to respective measures recommended by the Russian Government.”

The casino was allowed to reopen earlier than expected. However, since Russia’s borders “are still not yet fully opened”, Summit Ascent said it wants to focus on the local market for now.

The operator also reassured it has "rolled out stringent cost control measures, such as offsetting unused annual leave entitlements, unpaid leaves, cutting travel expenses and renegotiating contracts with subcontractors.”

Summit Ascent noted it didn’t lay off any employees during the coronavirus pandemic.

The venue is allowed to resume work on its gaming floors and food and beverage facilities, as well as continue “the upgrade works” of the casino

The improved Tigre de Cristal will have a new Suncity VIP room, several new restaurants and additional 30 hotel rooms.

The group added: “The upgrade is expected to be ready once the pandemic is settled.” Suncity Group is the largest shareholder in Summit Ascent; it acquired a 25% stake in 2019 and is in the process of increasing that stake to 70%.
