Renewed safety requirements in The Star Sydney
By Violeta Prockyte

The main gaming floor will be separated into different sections. Each area can now accommodate a maximum of 300 guests, mingling is forbidden and the patrons should keep a minimum of four square meters of distance from one another. The group said: “The Star is implementing operating procedures which comply with the new restrictions, including the delineation of several separate areas utilizing the over 20,000 square meter casino floor area across The Star Sydney.”

The casino re-opened on July 1, with a maximum of 5,000 patrons. It now has to cut back on both guests and staff, as the slower guest traffic means reduced staffing.

The poker room in The Star Sydney will not re-open either, as two well-known poker events, the Sydney Poker Championships and the WSOP International Circuit Sydney, have been canceled. The group also stated the last time similar measures were in place, the casino’s revenue could be compared to the private gaming room levels during the H1 2020.
