The infected staff member was working in the restaurant as a chef, and authorities who looked into the matter found no lapses in the venue’s safety and health regulations. Remaining restaurant staff was placed in mandatory quarantine and more than 300 other employees are being tested.

Paradise City stated it is prepared to cooperate with the authorities, as well as disinfect the entire property, including the restaurant. According to GGRAsia, authorities hadn’t asked the casino to close its doors despite the recent spike of COVID-19 in the country.

Paradise City is the foreigner-only casino that’s jointly owned by Paradise Co and Sega Sammy Holdings Inc, a Japanese company. The ongoing pandemic caused financial troubles for the casino, driving down both casino sales and hotel reservations.

Paradise City was not the only casino to temporarily shut its doors, Kangwon Land, the only casino for Korean nationals, also was closed temporarily closed until 7 September.
