In a statement released by Universal Entertainment, the casino’s parent company confirmed the suspension of the gaming business issued by Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (PAGCOR) on March 15 has been partially lifted.

Okada Manila is now permitted to resume operations in both the casino area and additional resort facilities, such as hotels or restaurants. But the statement provided no specific date for the reopening. 

The company promised to help stop the spread of infection when the facilities open again, stating: “We will thoroughly implement hygiene management protocols such as disinfection and cleaning according to the modes of operation of each facility, and strive to operate facilities that customers can enjoy at ease.” 

Okada Manila was mostly shut during the second quarter of the year, and the company reported that net sales in the casino for the first six months fell by 49% year-on-year to $151.6m. 

The statement also said it’s too early to know the consolidated financial forecast for the fiscal year ending December 2020 for Okada Manila and it will be announced at a later date. 

Solaire Resorts & Casino, another of Manila’s integrated resorts, should also resume work at 30% capacity, following the government guidelines.
