Gabriel Perez bediende de teleprompter van president Donald Trump en wedde via prediction market Kalshi op de woorden die de president zou uitspreken. De Amerikaanse toezichthouder CFTC schikte de zaak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wat de schikking inhoudt<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perez betaalt $ 107.539 aan behaalde winst terug en krijgt daarbovenop een civiele boete van $ 65.000. Ook mag hij drie jaar lang niet meer handelen op deze markten. Omgerekend gaat het om zo&#8217;n 148.500 euro. De CFTC maakte de schikking <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nu.nl\/verkiezingen-vs\/6407925\/hoge-boete-voor-autocuebediener-witte-huis-die-wedde-op-speeches-van-trump.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">vrijdag<\/a> bekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wedden op de woorden van Trump<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perez handelde tussen december 2025 en februari 2026 in zogeheten mention markets. Daarin voorspellen deelnemers of een bepaald woord of een bepaalde zin tijdens een toespraak van Trump valt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Als bediener van de autocue had Perez de tekst van die toespraken al in handen voordat ze werden uitgesproken. Hij zette daarop in en boekte meer dan $ 107.500 winst. Voor een markt die juist draait om publieke informatie is dat klassieke handel met voorkennis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Kalshi trok zelf aan de bel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kalshi ontdekte de opvallende transacties zelf en meldde ze bij de CFTC. In het definitieve besluit bedankt de toezichthouder het platform voor die medewerking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De zaak liep al maanden. In juli werd bekend dat Perez verdacht werd en dat de CFTC met hem sprak over een schikking. Kalshi valt als handelsplatform onder toezicht van diezelfde CFTC, wat verklaart waarom de zaak daar belandde en niet bij een klassieke gokwaakhond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Voorkennis blijft terugkeren<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perez is niet de enige die met voorwetenschap op een voorspellingsmarkt inzette. De Amerikaanse justitie onderzocht eerder oud-politicus <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamblinginsider.com\/nl\/nieuws\/104144\/george-santos-onder-vuur-justitie-onderzoekt-handel-met-voorkennis-op-kalshi\">George Santos<\/a> wegens verdachte weddenschappen op Kalshi. Op concurrent Polymarket speelde iets vergelijkbaars. Daar werd een <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamblinginsider.com\/nl\/nieuws\/103972\/google-ingenieur-aangeklaagd-voor-insider-gokken-op-polymarket\">Google-ingenieur<\/a> aangeklaagd voor gokken met voorkennis over aankondigingen van zijn eigen werkgever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Toezicht worstelt met prediction markets<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Amerikaanse staten stappen inmiddels naar de rechter om te laten bepalen of eventcontracten onder de gokwet of onder financieel toezicht vallen. Connecticut spande daarover eind augustus nog een rechtszaak aan tegen Kalshi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bij <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamblinginsider.com\/nl\/beste-online-casinos\">online casino&#8217;s in Nederland<\/a> met een Ksa-vergunning liggen de spelregels vast en controleert de aanbieder elke speler vooraf.
