Gibtelecom expanding into Asia

19th May 2021 - As part of Gibtelecom’s international expansion plans, the company has launched its first Asian Data Centre in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The facility offering hosting, managed solutions and a full range of Cloud services is connected directly to the company’s core private network, linking European businesses with their Asian operations and vice versa.

Daniel Hook, Gibtelecom’s Director Enterprise, explains what this means for Gibtelecom’s customers; “The online gaming landscape is forever changing, as the last 12 months has clearly shown us. This provides both challenges and opportunities for companies such as Gibtelecom and our customers alike. We have a substantial customer base spanning multiple industries that have operations in Asia and this addition to our existing network presence in the region gives our customers greater options to connect eastbound.”

“Last year’s announcement by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR) that Malaysia has opened its doors to online gaming companies, with generous incentives to those who relocate to the country, was great news.”

The new Data Centre, offering the full suite of Cloud products, connects directly with the company’s Data Centres in London and Gibraltar, providing European companies looking east or eastern companies looking west a secure and reliable internationally distributed infrastructure.

In addition to Public, Private and Hybrid Cloud services, the company will also offer its Cloud Connect service linking directly to the major Global Hyperscale Cloud providers including; Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud. By connecting directly via a private connection, customers avoid many of the security risks associated with doing so over the internet while creating a globally distributed hybrid cloud solution.

Danny added; “We, as service providers need to match the agility and vision of global enterprises whilst at the same time provide an infrastructure that is fast and easy to deploy, but also remains stable and secure.”

“Malaysia and Johor Bahru was identified as the ideal location for our first Asian Data Centre, the city is ideally located on the Malaysian peninsular and lies just 25km from the business and technology hub of Singapore.
