Q&A: Gamdom, crypto and Bolt

Gamdom’s Head of Strategy Felix Roemer speaks exclusively to Trafficologyabout the crypto casino market and spending time in Miami with Usain Bolt

Tell us about your company. Can you tell us about its origin and what you are currently up to?

We started our company in late 2016, originally as a Counterstrike skin casino. Players could bet using Counterstrike items, but in 2018 the makers of the game banned the trading of these items after an initial transfer was completed. After considering our options, we decided to switch to a crypto casino in 2020. Since the relaunch of our brand, we’ve seen significant growth, especially during the hype surrounding crypto when COVID first hit. Although the crypto market can be unstable, it has proven to be an immediate success for us. However, events like the collapse of a few lending platforms and FTX, have impacted our players and partners in the community.

What is your unique selling point that keeps people coming back to your company?

We have a feature called “slot battles,” where players can compete against each other using slot machines, I would say that’s our unique selling point. We also offer some of the highest limits in the cryptocurrency casino industry, attracting many high rollers. Additionally, the community aspect is integral to our success. The community chat was originally established to allow users to communicate with each other and with us, and it has since expanded to include chats in different languages. The community aspect has been a great success, although it requires a lot of moderation, due to the emotional reactions that come with winning and losing. However, the chat provides a relaxed and exciting environment for players to chat with each other after big winnings, making the overall experience much more enjoyable.

What about regulations? Is it easier for you since the regulations surrounding crypto are not as dense as other forms?

So, with crypto, initially when we launched everything was more flexible, but nowadays our master license holders are applying pressure. They’re always checking things like player requests and asking for a lot of information. I’m pretty sure that’s not going to get any easier because there will be more regulations coming for crypto, and those will have to be enforced. You would think a scripted casino would be easier to operate in different markets, but if you unblock one of those markets, you’ll immediately receive a letter. It’s quite tough. We’ve seen competitors get in trouble before in terms of new markets. Right now, we’re very interested in the Balkan markets, since we have a full translation, and a lot of players are joining there. While there aren’t a lot of high rollers in that market, sometimes someone comes along that makes it really worth it. The community chat really helps retain players there as well, because it’s a bit harder to build a community there and players feel safer with a foreign company when they have moderators to chat with.

In regards to entering the Balkans market, is that something you guys plan to do soon or is it still further off at the moment?

Right now, we’re in talks with payment processors, such as AirCash, which is becoming increasingly popular in the area. Once we have everything set up, we’ll be ready for launch.

You mentioned you met Usain Bolt in Miami to record. Can you tell us more about that?

I recently met him in Miami for a recording session. Initially, we didn’t think we would be able to secure a deal, but the opportunity became apparent to us, as he was the first person who wanted to advertise the fast withdrawal capabilities and high limits of crypto casinos. We reached out to him, and he was interested in working with us, which we were very excited about. We closed the deal, and I met him in Miami for six hours of recording, t-shirt signing and more. It was an amazing experience to meet such an iconic figure – not only for me, but for the rest of the team as well - he’s considered the greatest sprinter of all time.

Is there anything else you’d like to add or highlight from your company?

Well, we’ve been working on a big update for our website for a long time. It’s been running for three years now, but the update is finally coming out either late this month or early next month. It’s going to be a complete UI overhaul.

We also offer some of the highest limits in the cryptocurrency casino industry, attracting many high rollers
