Czech Republic proposes tightening gaming law

The Czech Republic government has announced earlier this week new tighter regulations for the gaming industry.

Czech Republic proposes tightening gaming law

These new laws aim to defend consumers’ rights and protection. In an official statement, issued by the Ministry of Finance, authorities are adding a new amendment which will control players’ spending.

Legislation would require operators to set limits for players based on an hourly basis. Spending restrictions would be calculated through a mathematical formula, accounting factors such as size, average payout or the number of times a bet is place.

As the government seeks stricter control, operators have already expressed their concerns with major brands announcing their possible withdrawal as a result.

This new law follows the Czech Republic’s harsh policy towards gambling. Last month, national administrations held a meeting to control public corruption through gaming operations. This industry might represent a risk of corruption for public officers, as “favouritism, non-standard lobbying, economic and media pressure” could influence them according to a document issued by the Human Rights Ministry.
