IGT appoints new General Counsel
American gambling technology supplier IGT Group has announced the appointment of Christopher Spears to the roles of corporate General Counsel and Vice President.
In his new role, Spears will work extensively with IGT’s executive team, overseeing all legal and corporate matters for the company. He is set to replace Neil Abrams, the current holder of the position who will retire from the company at the end of the year. IGT have confirmed that Abrams has transitioned to the role of Senior Advisor to the company until this time.
Spears has over 19 years of experience and served in a variety of roles with worldwide construction firm Caterpillar Inc, where he most recently served as Group General Counsel for three years. Prior to this, he has held numerous positions within the corporate legal sector.
In a statement announcing the appointment of Christopher Spears, Alberto Fornaro, IGT Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer said: “As IGT faces significant opportunities in our rapidly evolving industry, Chris Spears’ skills and depth of experience with an international Fortune 500 company will foster strong partnerships with IGT’s leadership, and ensure that we responsibly meet our growth objectives,”
Fornaro also paid tribute to the outgoing Abrams, saying: “Neil Abrams has been a valued member of the Senior Executive team at IGT. He played a key role in supporting the Company through critical activities during and after the merger completion. We thank him for his service, and wish him well in this new chapter of his life.”
