MGM Resorts and GVC target California with tribal gaming agreement

MGM GVC Interactive LLC, the joint venture owned by MGM Resorts and GVC, has partnered with the United Auburn Indian Community (UAIC) in California.

MGM Resorts and GVC target California with tribal gaming agreement

California is yet to legalise regulated sports betting but MGM Resorts and GVC are aiming to capitalise on the US’s “largest state by population” if any legislation is passed.

MGM Resorts and GVC would provide the UAIC with retail and mobile sports betting, as well as online casino and poker under the terms of the partnership.

Gene Whitehouse, Chairman of UAIC, said: “It is not yet clear if California will authorise sports betting or interactive games generally, but with the overturn of PASPA possibly opening the door for sports betting, our Tribe wants to be well-situated, and this agreement with the national leader in the field does just that.”

Adam Greenblatt, GVC Director of Corporate Development and Strategy, said: “We greatly admire the success the UAIC has had with its Thunder Valley Casino Resort, and look forward to adding to that success. The potential of this partnership is significant for MGM-GVC.”
