DraftKings to open first land-based sportsbook in Mississippi

The operator, initially a market leader in daily fantasy sports, this year moved into sports betting and made a strong start to life in the New Jersey market.

In its latest move, DraftKings has expanded into the state of Mississippi, agreeing to open its first land-based operation at Scarlet Pearl Sportsbook in D’Iberville.

The sportsbook will begin accepting wagers on 16 November and plans are in place to offer in-play betting soon.

Pending regulatory approval, the sportsbook will also incorporate on-site kiosks and an on-premise mobile app.

DraftKings Co-founder and CRO, Matt Kalish, said: “We’re thrilled to be working with Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort, whose leadership has a high bar for quality and a forward-thinking approach to sports betting; a perfect fit for DraftKings.”

Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort CEO LuAnn Pappas said: “We are excited to introduce DraftKings, a ‘New Way’ to game for our current and future guests.”
