Global Gaming appeal rejected by Supreme Administrative Court in Sweden
Sweden’s Supreme Administrative Court has rejected an injunctive relief appeal made by Global Gaming, after the license of subsidiary SafeEnt Ltd was revoked.
Global Gaming felt the decision to revoke the license lacked support in gaming law, and that all licence requirements were complied with.
State-run Svenska Spel’s online gambling monopoly in Sweden was abolished in January.
Prior to the ban, SafeEnt had been running both its Ninja Casino and SpelLandet online gaming brands via online casino and sports betting licenses.
Swedish gambling regulator Spelinspektionen revoked Global Gaming’s operating license after reporting “serious deficiencies” in business practices, including failings related to responsible gambling and anti-money laundering measures.
Tobias Fagerlund, CEO of Global Gaming, said: “Although we were aware that the chances of being granted injunctive relief were limited, we are, of course disappointed to see our appeal rejected again.
“We maintain that the decision is fundamentally wrong and disproportionate, and will show it during the process that is currently underway in the Administrative Court.”
