MGA signs data-sharing partnership with Slovak Football Association

The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has signed a data-sharing agreement with the Slovak Football Association.

MGA signs data-sharing partnership with Slovak Football Association

The deal aims to safeguard football in Slovakia from threats of match-fixing.

Slovakia’s football governing body is one of the largest organisations in the country, encompassing over 400,000 members.

The two parties will facilitate the sharing of information as part of the agreement.

It comes after the MGA earlier this year strengthened its sports integrity network through a number of data-sharing partnerships with several national and international sporting bodies.

The list includes the Swedish Football Association (SvFF), the International Cricket Council (ICC), the Darts Regulation Authority (DRA), and the World Professional Billiards & Snooker Association (WPBSA).

“The agreement with the Slovak Football Association joins a continuously growing list of data-sharing agreements with international partners from the sporting world,” said the MGA’s sports integrity manager, Antonio Zerafa.

“We are proud that through such agreements we are placing ourselves as an important contributor to match-fixing investigations across the globe, and we hope that we can now provide the same level of assistance to the Slovak FA also.”

Slovak Football Association integrity officer Jakub Cavoj added: “I hope that this agreement will be very useful for both sides and help us achieve a common goal – protecting the integrity of sport competitions.

“For the Slovak FA and police investigations this exchange of information could be important in collecting evidence because many betting companies popular in Slovakia have a Malta gambling license.

“Sharing best practice and exchange of information is key in the fight against match-fixing.”
