Sportradar signs broadcast agreement with Australia’s NBL

The partnership will commence from the upcoming NBL season which will begin in mid-January next year.

Through the deal, Sportradar will work to enhance distribution and coverage for NBL’s media rights across broadcast and online platforms.

The sports betting data company will also power the basketball league’s OTT platform, which will ultimately include NBL1 games for the first time.

Aiming to ensure the integrity of the league, Sportradar will also become an official integrity partner of the NBL. As part of this partnership, the company will provide odds monitoring services across Australia’s top basketball leagues to detect any betting irregularities.

Commenting on the agreement, David Edwards, director of sports media and partnerships – Oceania, for Sportradar, said: “There’s no question that the NBL has rapidly become one of the top basketball leagues in the world, with a great mix of homegrown and imported talent across the competition.

“Sportradar is looking forward to expanding the NBL’s global footprint through our technology-based, data-driven approach to rights distribution, and helping the league unlock new commercial partnerships and opportunities off the back of that increased engagement.”

In response, the NBL’s chief commercial officer Brad Joyne expressed his excitement to work with Sportradar towards the aim of expanding the NBL’s “sphere of influence.”
