Planet Sport launches French Canadian content service
Sports media company Planet Sport has launched a localised content service optimised for Canada’s French-speaking citizens.
This new package includes content and translation services for native French speakers, which constitute over one-fifth of Canada’s population.
By launching these new products, Planet Sport is looking to support gambling businesses that want to expand in Canada.
Following the launch of Ontario’s regulated betting market in April, Canada has gained considerable attention as operators, suppliers and affiliates alike look to capitalise on the opportunity it presents.
With more than half a million French speakers in Ontario alone, Planet Sport said localisation is essential.
“Canada is set to become one of the largest betting markets in the world, especially following the launch of Ontario,” said Andrew Morgan, Planet Sport’s Head of International Betting Content.
“But to succeed in such a competitive market, operators, suppliers and affiliates must carefully localise their offerings.
“Given the prevalence of the French-Canadian language across the country, with more than seven million speakers, translating content accurately and with a real human touch is an absolute must.”
The service will translate so-called “static content,” such as responsible gambling messaging and deposit and withdrawal options, as well as licensing and explainer guides, for example, how to bet on sports, casino and virtual offerings.
Operators and affiliates can also access news content “tailored to the French-Canadian market,” alongside short snippets such as “We are your home of football betting” and “tips and odds in Canada.”
Unique betting terms have been interpreted by human translators, added Planet Sport, who are fluent in the French language spoken in Canada.
Morgan concluded: “French Canadian is a great addition to our growing translation bureau, and we look forward to working with operators, suppliers and affiliates to help them maximise the huge potential Canada has to offer.”
